Bergen was founded around the early part of the 11th century and was the administrative capital of Norway until 1299 and the country's largest city until the mid 1800s. Reflecting its long history and importance as a port within the Hanseatic League, the present day city boasts many cultural relics and a vibrant cultural scene. (more...)

Gori is a city in the Shida Kartli region of Georgia. It is most famous (or infamous) for being the birthplace of Joseph Vissarionovich Jughashvili, better known as Stalin. Today, surprisingly, it does not look much different from when Stalin ruled the USSR. Gori is also located a short drive from Uplistsikhe, an ancient Silk Road cave city and former regional center of pagan worship. (more...)

Cyclone causes havoc in Myanmar

More than 40,000 people are confirmed dead, and the death toll could reach 100,000 after Cyclone Nargis slammed the delta region of Myanmar. Nationwide shuts down

Nationwide [1], a South African budget airline has announced that they are ceasing all flights and operations with immediate effect due to financial problems. No information regarding ticket refunds are currently available, but South African Airways and the other domestic carriers have stated that they will not accept or redeem Nationwide tickets. Nationwide serviced a number of domestic routes as well as routes to London and Zambia. (more...)

Eos goes Bye

EOS Airlines, an all business-class carrier which operated flights from New York City's Kennedy Airport to London Stansted Airport, announced that it would cease all operations effective April 28 and file for bankruptcy. British Airways and Silverjet have announced re-accommodation plans for Eos Airlines passengers. (more...)
