Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the largest and busiest airport in the state of Arizona. It is the primary hub for US Airways as well as the third largest hub for Great Lakes Airlines and third largest departure point for Southwest Airlines. Terminal 4 is the largest and busiest of the three terminals handling 75% of all the airport traffic. It is the ninth busiest airport in the United States in terms of passenger traffic and eighteenth worldwide. The airport currently has 121 aircraft gates at all three terminals, Terminal 2: 17 Gates, Terminal 3: 16 Gates, Terminal 4: 88 Gates.

Airport Shuttle: To get to your terminal from the economy parking areas, or to get from one terminal to another, use the free, green and white Airport Shuttle Bus. Parking When parking in the economy lots, remember the name of the bus you take and look for the same free green and white shuttle bus for your return.

  • Jackrabbit Bus - West Economy Lot.
  • Gecko Bus - Bus stops 1 through 5 in the East Economy surface lot.
  • Roadrunner Bus - Bus stops 6 through 9 and East Economy
  • Garages A & B.

To Get From One Terminal to Another Each bus stop is marked by a green and white “Inter-Terminal Bus” sign.

  • From Terminal 4, catch the Airport Shuttle Bus to Terminals 2 and 3 on the Ticketing Level (2), outside of Door 22 on the south side of the terminal.
  • From Terminal 3, catch the bus for Terminal 4 on the Baggage Claim & Ticketing Level (1) on the north side.
  • From Terminal 3, catch the bus for Terminal 2 on the Baggage Claim & Ticketing Level (1) on the south side.
  • From Terminal 2, catch the bus for Terminals 3 and 4 on the outer curb.

Rental Car Center: The facility is located at 1805 E. Sky Harbor Circle South, accommodates all airport rental car companies, their rental counters and vehicles. The facility is open 24 hours, seven days per week. Upon arrival in Phoenix, please proceed to the airport curb at the baggage claim level. Look for the Rental Car Shuttle pick up area, which takes passengers to the center. All rental car counters are located in the Rental Car Center. Rental car companies use a common, multi-colored “Rental Car Shuttle” bus. Individual rental car company buses are a thing of the past.

Limos & Taxi's: Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport offers a variety of transportation options. Each has certain advantages and each calculates fares in a slightly different way. Determine your approximate fare before beginning your trip.

  • Fare Calculation: All fares listed are the maximum rates allowed under contract with the airport. Your actual rate may be less. We encourage you to check with the driver before starting out as many will negotiate. Current rates are required to be posted on the outside of each vehicle.
  • Limousines: Limousines offer airport-to-door service. For-hire limousines are staged on the south curbs of each terminal and available for walk-up service. Rates are set according to the address being within a given zone. The zone rates listed are for the first two passengers. The rate for each additional passenger is $10 per person.

Vans & Buses

  • Scheduled Vans: SuperShuttle operates 24 hours per day on a regularly scheduled basis. It offers airport-to-door service. Vans depart every 15 minutes to all areas of the Valley from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. After 9 p.m., the frequency lessens, please call the company directly if you are departing after 9 p.m.

Fares are charged on a flat rate to each geographic area. (Note: Current rates are probably lower. Check the rate on the outside of vehicles or contact the company directly). Buses: Phoenix Transit Bus-Red Line and #13 provide lift-equipped transportation to and from the airport and throughout the metropolitan area. For city-wide route information and schedules call (602) 253-5000/voice or (602) 261-8208/TDD. You can pick up a copy of the Bus Book that contains schedules and routes at the Information Desk in any terminal, or visit www.valleymetro.org.

  • Dial-A-Ride: This service is available to seniors and people with disabilities seven days per week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. To reserve your ride, call (602) 253-4000/voice or call the Arizona Relay Service (602) 231-0961/TDD. Taxis and private van services are offered by several different companies in the Phoenix area. Also, many hotels and resorts offer free transportation for their guests to and from Sky Harbor. A courtesy telephone center is located adjacent to the baggage claim areas at the passenger terminals or check with your accommodation provider for details.
