Wikitravel:Itinerary article template

From Wikitravel

Jump to: navigation, search

[NOTE: this is a template for creating articles about itineraries. Itineraries should be an intersection of time or activity and destination. Some examples are One month in Southeast Asia and Route 66. Itineraries can cover any type of destination - from continent Roadtrip across North America to city One week in Barcelona. More than one version of an itinerary can exist on the same page, so One month in Southeast Asia can cover several possibilities and Roadtrip across North America can give several options for different time frames.

Itineraries can and should link to destination pages that will fill in more details of the places along the route than can be described in the itinerary article.

[NOTE: To quickly insert a complete blank itinerary template, copy the text between the lines into the edit box on page you are editing. This text is general, change it as needed.]

[NOTE: Stuff in italics below is editorial comment, with suggestions for what should go in each section, and not part of the eventual article. If you copy the text below, you should plan on ripping out everything in italics when you start your article.]

The introduction to an itinerary does not have a heading. This is a where you give a quick descriptive overview of the itinerary. Be sure to include some context so readers know where and what they are reading about. Links to the countries, regions or cities the route passes through can be useful here too. Also include any background information particular to the route, but try not to duplicate too much information that already exisits in the country, region or city pages.

Highway 93 goes from Jasper National Park to Wickenburg Arizona. Most people drive the additional half day to Nogales. Its more fun to drive from the Canadian interior to Mexico.
